Santorini Island Greece

The most intriguing island of Greece is Santorini, which is in the southern Aegean Sea.  This capital town of Fira Officially it is called Thira and classically it is called Thera. Today, Santorini is the only inhabited Caldera (volcanic cauldron) in the world. Another popular theory holds that the Thera eruption is the source of the legend of Atlantis.

Santorini Island Greece is more than enough to reveal in mind impressive traditional houses with a view to the Volcano, spectacular sunsets and scenery, white, red and black sand beaches. Geographical newness is in part to thank. The active volcano of Santorini erupted in the 50's and ruined many towns of the island.

The Santorini Island Greece has changed names through history. Originally it was called “Stroggyli” which means a round since that was the shape of the island. The Phoenicians named it “Kallisti” which means the very best, and as a final point it got the name Thira after its first ruler.

Glamourous Santorini Island Greece is deliciously different. During the summer the city never sleeps. In Fira there is also a folklore museum. In Fira you can go to the church of Ag Mina, where most postcards of Santorini portray. During the month of September in Fira, there is a renowned classical music festival every year.

Katrina kaif and Hrithik Roshan's Bollywood movie bang bang has also some scenes of this Island.
